Intern’s Point of View:
It’s actually rather difficult for me to describe my internship well without including the words “fun,” “nerf,” or “tacos.” My internship at Graydient Creative gave me so much experience while working in a new and constantly improving agency environment, that I didn’t even notice that I was soaking it all in. The people that work there were so welcoming and friendly that I felt that I could ask them any question and receive not only the answer to the question, but background knowledge that helped my overall learning. I truly felt like a part of family this summer at Graydient.
My first day at Graydient was interesting to say the least. It was filled with meetings, and midway through the day, they took me to lunch, where I met most of the team. I even got to go to Sculpture Milwaukee’s opening banquet that day, which opened me up to the results of some Graydient’s projects. From the conversations that I had during that day (albeit many of them were awkward from first day jitters) I figured that my team was friendly and pretty goofy, yet extremely competent. I’m not kidding when I say that my hypothesis got confirmed so many times throughout this summer that a number does not exist to count the number of affirmed situations.
This brings me to say this: even though I had a lot of fun eating snacks, photo shoots, random conversations about how to pronounce “gif,” nerf gun wars (moreso getting shot by nerf guns), and moving down to a new floor, the learning experiences that I am able to take away that are lasting. I learned how to work with a CMS, design email templates, the sales process, view other’s code to help solve your and even how to update websites via asset managers. I could not learned any of these skills in-depth without my team, so I want to thank Leslie, Danielle, Danae, Quangdao, Chaz, Blake, Josh, Otto, Miles, Oliver, Matt, Kyle, Lanre, Meg, Sami, Pete, Chris, and especially Shawn for giving me the best possible agency learning experience that I could’ve gotten this summer. You guys are truly awesome!
Team’s Point of View:
Speaking on behalf of the entire team, I cannot even begin to tell you how excited we were to have Trent joining us for a summer internship. His Behance portfolio boasted a lot of personality with really unique concepts and a design style unlike anyone else on the team–we were really looking forward to his fresh perspective!
Trent’s first few days with us were unusually exciting. The inaugural Sculpture Milwaukee exhibit was kicking off that week, and because our team had a large hand in creating the branding, marketing materials and website–we were invited to attend the VIP Reception held at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center, as well as the Opening Day Kick-Off Event, held at the Chase Plaza across the street from our office building. The VIP Reception included many delightful hors d’oeuvres and themed beverages, representing some of the unique artwork being installed as part of the exhibit. The Kick-Off Event included several spectacular local entertainment acts, as well as free lunch giveaways! Needless to say, after all of the excitement we had to brief Trent that not every week is like this at Graydient 😉
Trent was tasked with many things over the course of the summer–some of which were things that he had never done before, but each new task was handled with enthusiasm. One of those things was creating email templates for marketing and guest correspondence purposes. Within a couple of weeks, Trent became our go-to email template master! He also did a lot of work concepting and illustrating new designs for our Graydient marketing materials. He gave himself the personal challenge of illustrating each team member–they are spot on!
We want to thank you, Trent, for all of your contributions to the team over the summer. It was truly a pleasure having you around with your positive attitude and stellar design skills. The office is a lot less fashionable now that you are back at school!
