SmashingConf San Francisco
I had an amazing opportunity to fly to San Francisco with Leslie Fickau and Justin LaFountain and attend the two day Smashing Conference. I have been a long time reader of Smashing Magazine, especially on responsive design. So with a beautiful city and a stacked lineup, I knew it was going to be the perfect trip.
The Conference was located at the Fort Mason Center in the Fisherman’s Wharf, which provided us with the picture perfect view of the San Francisco bay.

As I said before, Smashing Conference had an epic speaker lineup for us ranging from industry leading designers, animators and web developers. I was most familiar with Harry Roberts, as I have used his inuitcss library in previous projects.
One of my favorite talks was Mark Boulton’s as he gave great details on bold typography and Modular design patterns. He gave examples on how most design systems are expected to fit together perfectly by using modular bits and pieces, but that while this approach eases development it can also leave design stagnant and boring.
Along with the beautiful view of the Bay Area, we had a free day to explore the rest of downtown San Francisco. We were treated with perfect weather on our walk!

Along with exploring downtown we did an epic bike tour from Fishermans Wharf to Sausalito.

More updates coming soon!
