Geek of the Week: Slack

Product Name: Slack

Which Team Uses It: All Graydient members

Why We Get Geeked: As a team with different schedules and multiple projects happening at a time, it was essential for us to have a communication app so we could all stay connected and on the same page. We use slack for our daily standups, (a report on what we worked on the previous day, what we’ll be working on the current day, any roadblocks, and if we are in the office or not) for projects, and for general team conversation. We set up rooms for specific projects so that everyone stays up to date on changes, and team members can ask for help with parts of the project, testing, etc. It also has a direct message system, so if you need to get ahold of a specific teammate, you can do so instantly rather than waiting on an email.

Price/Investment: Slack is available for free, and there is also standard ($8/mo) and plus ($15/mo) options for bigger teams that need more features like customer support, video calls, custom user groups, and more file storage.

Where/How You Can Get It: You can Download Slack for Mac or Windows on their official website.

We’ll be featuring a different Geek every week, so be sure to follow us on Facebook to hear more about our awesome team and latest projects!
